Chairman’s Desk

On behalf of entire team of Mani Trust, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to all our well-wishers and supporters for their selfless support all these years to reach to this height today and hope your support will continue to empower the weakest sections of our society.

The Trust is moving forward with a vision to provide better healthcare services. We are vigorously working to transform Kalimpong as a Medical Tourism Destination of Darjeeling Hills. We have planned to establish Medical College and Charitable Hospital which will not only fulfill the Trust’s primary objective to promote Health and Medical infrastructure but will also create avenues in terms of job opportunities. We believe that the establishment of Medical College in Kalimpong will bestow Kalimpong as an educational hub in a real sense.

A step ahead towards our goal the Trust has already initiated to commence a Charitable Dialysis and Pathology Centre to provide affordable healthcare facility in Kalimpong which will cater not only to the people of Darjeeling Hills but it will also cater service to the people of the adjoining areas such as Sikkim, Dooars.

As far as the unemployment problems of Darjeeling Hills are concerned the Trust has been able to convert its initiative Employment Opportunity for Livelihood Sustainability (EOfLS) into Project: Employment Opportunity for Livelihood Sustainability (EOfLS) by executing Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with West Bengal Khadi & Village Industries Board to revive the world famous and our pride Kalimpong Arts and Crafts, which has been declared as heritage by UNESCO, presently lying in a defunct state. In the past 1 year we have achieved more than 50% of the Intervention task directly benefitting 1000 families. We are committed to explore the natural resources which can create avenues in terms of Sustainable Livelihood. We have been working to meticulously promote Sericulture, vegetable dye.

We believe that unless the produced goods are marketed at fair prices and make it sustainable we cannot achieve our prime motto to create Sustainable Livelihood. Hence, we have created a brand called Kalimpong Crafts, for which we have already started the process to register it under the Trademark Registry Bureau of India, thus completing the Livelihood Cycle.

To empower the economy of the people of Darjeeling Hills with our new Initiative: “HAMRO PASSAL” is in the verge of commencing its activity within this financial year. This will help the society to understand the solidarity to empower our own economy. This will enable the average

families to save more of their hard earned income that shall in return help in retaining the economy is a small but significant way.
As committed to uphold our motto Humanity First! the Trust shall always be ready to provide a helping hand to the needy and the deserving in all spheres of life.
